Loft living offers great, open spaces for those people with a desire
to live a "minimalist" lifestyle and who tend to focus on
activities outside of their homes and not so much inside
their home.
Lofts are great for people who ...
... aren't into
home maintenance. They dont want to mow the grass or repair
the sprinkler system every spring and they don't often set the VCR to
record "This Old House" on PBS.
... want freedom to travel. Just turn off the oven, the iron,
lock the door and leave!
... want to be in the heart of the city. People who like being
near the action of the city with all of the things it offers to see
and do.
... like to walk
to work, or dining or to all of those really great shops and service
boutiques that arent part of a chain.
WHAT
IS A LOFT?
It used to be that
a loft was a 100+ year old manufacturing or warehouse building that
had been converted into open-style living or office spaces. That is
still true and many of the most charming loft residences are in just
such buildings. However, in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, developers
have very few old buildings to convert, so they have taken to building
loft type buildings from scratch.
These new
lofts provide you with logical living designs and modern amenities.
They provide a unique opportunity to redefine your way of living in
a way that more than makes up for the lack of a long industrial history.
INSIDE A LOFT
Traditionally, a loft is a high ceiling open space you could finish
with a kitchen and bath and some furniture scattered about. Newer rehabs
or new buildings have taken to adding a few walls to define spaces while
using sophisticated kitchen and bath design details and fixtures.
Still, the point
of a loft is open space and creative use of that space invites
the owner to arrange "things" to suit their personal lifestyle
and taste. In some loft buildings, an area near a tall window with a
city view may be an ideal home office for one resident while being a
perfect dining area for another. The great part is, the owner decides
the use-of-space issues ... not the builder!
If your needs are
more geared toward defined spaces, perhaps a condo is more in line.
