The
Roosevelt District was the first Phoenix neighborhood to receive Historic
designation in 1985. It features some of the finest examples of early 20th century
residential architecture in the City of Phoenix.
Stroll
along picturesque pathways past some of the city's most notable and charming historic
homes. Finely detailed Craftsman Bungalows, Period Revival homes (Mission, Spanish,
Italian Villa, French Provincial and English Cottage revival) as well as Neoclassical
and Prairie School styles line the streets. Area
Residents. For nearly a century, the Roosevelt neighborhood has been home
to many of the community's elite citizens. A governor, mayors, city commissioners,
Supreme Court justices, doctors, lawyers and entrepreneurs all made their homes
on these streets while building a vibrant community in the heart of the city.
Today, as in those early days, many of the city's leaders still reside here. |
